Eve, CodeScene's AI Chatbot: AI providers and data privacy
What is Eve?
Eve is CodeScene's AI support assistant. It answers product questions using the articles in our Help Center and CodeScene documentation.
You can find Eve in the Help Center, in the CodeScene Community, and in the support widget inside CodeScene Cloud. Eve runs on Featurebase, the platform that hosts our Help Center and Community.
Which AI providers power Eve?
Eve uses large language models (LLMs) that Featurebase gets from third-party AI providers. Featurebase lists these providers in its subprocessor list:
Featurebase manages which model handles each request. For the current list, see Featurebase's subprocessor page.
What data does Eve process?
Eve only processes what you type into the conversation and the public Help Center content it uses to answer you.
What is sent to AI providers: your question and the conversation so far, along with relevant Help Center content.
What Eve can't access: your source code, repositories, analysis results or any other data in your CodeScene account.
To keep your data safe, don't share secrets, credentials or source code in a chat with Eve.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. Section 11 of Featurebase's Data Processing Agreement commits Featurebase to the following:
Customer personal data is not used to train Featurebase's own foundation models or any third-party ones.
AI providers are accessed only through enterprise or API services, never consumer products.
Prompts and outputs containing customer personal data are not used to improve the providers' models.
AI providers may keep prompts and outputs only for abuse monitoring, safety or legal compliance.
Where is data hosted, and how long is it kept?
Featurebase hosts customer data primarily in the European Economic Area (EEA). The AI providers that power Eve are US-based, so your messages are processed in the USA when Eve generates an answer.
Transfers outside the EEA are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, plus the UK and Swiss addenda where relevant.
Retention by AI providers is limited to abuse monitoring, safety and legal compliance. OpenRouter, which routes requests between models, has data retention turned off.
Do I have to use Eve?
No, Eve is optional. If you'd rather not use an AI assistant, you can:
browse or search the Help Center directly
ask a question in the CodeScene Community
contact CodeScene Support through the channels included in your plan
Security reviews and further reading
Featurebase passed CodeScene's vendor security screening before we rolled it out. If your security review needs more detail about Eve, contact your CodeScene account manager or CodeScene Support.
